It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the first Asia-Pacific Conference on Process Safety (APCPS), presented by the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), the China University of Petroleum, and the China Chemical Safety Association. The APCPS will be held September 3rd – 5th, 2013, in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China, at the Kempinski Hotel Qingdao, by the famous Silver Sand Beach.
CCPS’ first event in the Asia-Pacific region was held in Qingdao in 2006 in partnership with the China University of Petroleum. It is therefore fitting that the first Asia-Pacific conference should also be held in Qingdao. Additionally, 2013 marks the 50th Anniversary of the China University of Petroleum, making this conference even more auspicious.
CCPS presents the world’s leading conferences in process safety, and the 1st ACPCS will be no exception. The top process safety experts of the Asia Pacific region are invited to present their work, along with leading global experts. Attendees will be able to improve their knowledge of process safety, expand their network, and become even more energized to prevent process safety accidents.
All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, which will be indexed by Chemical Abstracts, Scopus, and EI, and will be considered for publication in the prestigious Process Safety Progress Journal.
Established in 1985 as the chemical and petroleum engineering profession’s response to tragic toxic gas accident in Bhopal, India and gas explosion in Mexico City, Mexico, CCPS continues to advance the practice of process safety while promoting interchange and deep discussion among process safety experts around the world. In 2007, CCPS established the CCPS China Section in partnership with the China University of Petroleum to help carry knowledge of process safety to the Chinese petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors.
Established in 1953, China University of Petroleum (Huadong) is a high-level university co-established by the Ministry of Education, the four petroleum and petrochemical companies (CNPC, Sinopec, CNOOC, and CHEMCHINA) and the People’s Government of Shandong Province. Acclaimed as “a cradle of technology talents for the petroleum industry”, the university is an important base of training high-level talents for petroleum and petrochemical industry.
The city of Qingdao is famous for its beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, as well as for its delicious seafood. The nearby Laoshan Scenic Area is well worth visiting because of its beautiful scenery, natural pearls and exquisite crafts. And of course Qingdao is the best place to taste freshly made Qingdao (Tsingtao) beer.
